This crash of an apparent explosion turned out to be the hull of «ENERGY CONCENTRATION» having cracked – due to an incorrect discharge procedure. As a consequence her mid section had lifted partly out of the water, her stern and fore section were partly submerged and touching the buttom. She was, in fact, resting on the buttom of Europoort almost in two pieces and still with most of her heavy oil cargo on board.

Later the port reopened and her cargo was safely discharged. The tanker, however, was a loss and consequently cut into two clean sections, which then were sold for scrapping. The fore section was brought to Split, Yugoslavia and the after section, with engine room and accomodation, to Barcelona, Spain, to be broken up.
